CivStat

About

A data-driven platform that measures the long arc of human civilization — tracking 7,000 years of conflict, welfare, knowledge, freedom, sustainability and cooperation through 76 indicators.

What is CivStat?

CivStat aggregates and normalizes historical data into a unified framework that allows apples-to-apples comparison across millennia. Rather than relying on a single metric, it tracks 76 raw indicators, scores 33 of them, and distils those into 6 core dimensions of civilization.

Every indicator is normalized to a 0–100 scale and adjusted for population size — so ancient tribal warfare (where ~15% of people died violently) correctly scores higher on the Conflict dimension than World War II (~2.9%).

The platform is built for explorers, researchers, and anyone curious about where humanity has been — and where it might be heading.
